LEARN supports family literacy through a variety of programs. See basic information below, and have a look at our newsletter for times and dates.

All programs have free transportation if needed for families.

Families Learning Together

A fun FREE home program for families to do together, with weekly themes and materials and supplies provided for participants to keep.

BOOKS for Babies

A six week program for parents and caregivers of children aged 0-2. Learn the importance of reading to young babies, as well as what kind of books are best. Learn how to read to your children in new and interesting ways!

When: Wednesdays 10:30am - 11:30am, October 15 - November 19
Where: Nurture Pregnancy Centre 3216 Ave SE, Medicine Hat

Conversation Circle

An eight week program for newcomers to Canada, to assist you in further your lifelong learning journey. We will focus on learning new vocabulary in every day conversation while having fun. Weekly topics may include: holidays, food, sports and recreation, transportation, and everyday skills.

When: Mondays 6:00pm - 7:30pm, October 20th - December 8th.
Where: Redcliff Public Library

A FREE virtual program for families with children in Medicine Hat Public School District ELPs. Materials will be dropped off at your home throughout the program, and videos of activities posted in a closed Facebook group, for you to follow along with. Limited spaces available!

When: Wednesdays, October 22 - November 2

Reading Club

A six week program for newcomer to Canada, refugees, and permanent residents. This class will focus on reading and speaking English for adults. Learn from a variety of short stories, newspaper articles, and poems!

When: Thursdays 2:45pm - 4:15pm November 6 - December 11 Where: SAAMIS Immigration Services Association 221 4th St SE (Downtown)

Rhyme Time

A musical program for Mennonite families. Enjoy songs and stories with your children!

When: Fridays 10:00am - 11:00am October 17 - November 7
Where: Redcliff Public Library
